WebIf your computer cannot handle a 1.18 world, you can lower it's render distance through the server.properties file. That can highly increase the performance. If you want to use something lighter, I recommend using something like papermc to boost your chunk loading speed. It is really efficient, but will make entity lags more noticable.

Thus in realms worlds, render distance is capped off at 8-10, with no options or ways to change it.
